“When we think of the origin of our Congregation and Family, we find first of all a community, which was not only visible, but indeed quite unique, almost like a lantern in the darkness of night: Valdocco, the home of a novel community and a pastoral setting that was widely known, extensive and open…such a community gave rise to a new culture, not in an academic sense but in that of a new style of relationship between young people and educators, between laity and priests, between artisans and students, a relationship which had its effect on the area and on the city itself…All this had as its root and raison d’etre the faith and pastoral charity, which tried to create from within a family spirit, and led to a deep affection for God and our Lady.” - (Fr.
